What you need
rub
for serving
Units: Servings: sliders
How it's made
  1. Mix all the ingredients for the rub together and massage all over the pork after having trimmed most of the fat.
  2. My slow cooker has an insert that you can use on the stove, which is SUPER convenient since I like to start by browning everything I make in a slow cooker. If you have a regular slow cooker then use large saute pan. Warm up the oil on a high heat. Add the pork and brown for a couple minutes on each side. Lower the heat and set the meat aside on a plate.
  3. Add the stock, vinegar, barbecue sauce, tomato paste, worcestershire sauce, and reminding brown sugar to the same pan. Stir and cook on medium for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Place the sauce and meat in the slow cooker, cover and cook on low for about 7-8 hours, or until the meat falls appart.
  5. Remove the meat and place in a large bowl, it should easily fall appart. If you have a fat separator, use it with the liquid to remove the excess fat. Then pour the rest of the liquid in a sauce pan and cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, to reduce.
  6. Returned the now reduced sauce to the meat and serve on buns with coleslaw on the side, or inside.
