Spaetzli are little handmade pasta quite famous in Southern Germany, Alsace, Switzerland and Austria. The spelling of the name varies slightly depending on the region but it is usually pronounced "Shpetslee". Those are very close to my heart (belly) because they were served on special occasions, and usually in restaurants. Why so special? No idea! They have very simple ingredients, they're easy to make and cheap!
It's a great side dish for sausages, stews, saut?ed meats or vegetable dishes. The other day I added them to a soup like dumplings YUM!
Don't get discouraged at first because it is handmade. It's actually quite simple to make and the shape doesn't have to be perfect!
